The Madrid World Capital of Engineering, Construction and Architecture Association and the A LA PAR Foundation have together taken another step this week towards their respective common goals.

Goals of leading companies at the state level but from diverse fields -such as construction, textiles or engineering- that coincide in their desire to transform society by supporting social works that have an impact and significantly improve the lives of communities. This has been precisely the driving force of the A LA PAR Foundation, which has been working since the 1990s for the rights and social and labor participation of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

If last September, the Association and the NGO signed a mutual collaboration agreement that committed both parties to support their respective activities and/or communications with tangible actions, in this 2022 a new accolade to the synergy between the conglomerate and the Foundation was urgently needed chaired by Almudena Martorell.

Thus, the Board of Directors of Madrid World Capital of Engineering, Construction and Architecture, made up of…. , visited the entity’s facilities this Thursday. They have been received by a representation of the leadership of A LA PAR: its General Director, José Luis Castro; its director of Institutional Relations, Jaime Peidró and its director of Marketing and Communication, Itziar García.

Next, the delegation made a complete tour of the Foundation’s facilities, where, in addition to learning about the range of specialized services available to A LA PAR for users and families of people with intellectual disabilities (education (CEE A LA PAR), training (Campvs and COMPASS), employment (Production Units such as Printing, Shipping Logistics, Carpentry, Decorative Painting, Candy Workshop, La Huerta…), Program for Transit to Independent Life, Leisure, Sports Club and High Performance Club, UAVDI Access to Justice Unit, etc.) have traveled the different units of production and obtaining of resources; a whole series of initiatives that not only employ, in many cases, people with intellectual disabilities but also generate funds that have a direct impact on social work and that minimize A LA PAR’s dependence on the pension system, dependency or of other public aid from the Administration.

Profitability in its activity, yes, but guaranteeing at all times the economic, social and environmental sustainability of its management model. A delicate balance for whose maintenance it has, from now on, a new ally in the Association of Madrid World Capital of Engineering, Construction and Architecture.

Similarly, joining the A LA PAR Foundation, the MWCC Association is adding human value and solidarity purpose to its acronym, thus expanding the Madrid Brand with the seal of full inclusion and diversity.

A productive visit on a morning in which it has become clear that the nature of A LA PAR, as a Madrid entity with a great reputation and extensive expertise, which has spent decades betting on the talent and ability of people with intellectual disabilities from a model of profitable and sustainable self-management and always with a vocation for leadership, fits perfectly into that amalgam of talent from Madrid that constitutes the Association Madrid World Capital of Engineering, Construction and Architecture.

A LA PAR AND MWCC, next steps to underpin recovery:

If last September this alliance was forged between the Association and the NGO -which works for and to defend the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and their participation in society– in these early stages of 2022, the two have pertinent agreement to get back to work, after the impasse of the sixth wave, to start building in the direction outlined at the return of summer.

Among other actions, from the MWCC Association they have expressed their commitment to reinvigorate the development of specific projects for the labor integration of people with intellectual disabilities in different entities. The social networks of the conglomerate will also serve to amplify the echo of each of these actions in which the dissemination of equality will be promoted through joint communications with A LA PAR.

Among the initiatives that will promote A LA PAR and the MWCC starting next spring, the following stand out:

  • Events that start in March and in which students from the Campus A LA PAR Post-compulsory Training will participate.
  • Visibility to the work that It takes place at the Fundación A LA PAR among the Associates of the MWCC.
  • Visibility of the work being carried out by the Association among the employees of the A LA PAR Foundation.

Thus, specific events will be developed that promote training and mutual information and that enable an improvement in the quality of life and the job prospects of all people with intellectual disabilities. A collaboration, in short, that seeks to transform society, always with a focus on social, economic and environmental sustainability.

In the words of the president of the A LA PAR Foundation, Almudena Martorell “it is always a pleasure to have you here again and feel your desire to roll up your sleeves and get down to work to try to improve together the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. We are smaller than you but we are convinced that if a conglomerate like yours champions the principles of openness to diversity, and seeks responsible profitability – socially, economically and environmentally – your flame will be seen from far away, it will illuminate to many other companies and companies that will then ask themselves, what are they doing that I am not doing.”

For David Garcia Núñez, President of MWCC, “the relationship established with Fundación A LA PAR is a clear example and exposition of the mission, vision and values of MWCC. We are very proud to work and collaborate with A LA PAR, in order to integrate disability into our society.
