MWCC has been a finalist in the first edition of the National Construction Confederation Awards, in the category of Improving the Image of the sector. This is the first national recognition of leadership, innovation and dynamism in the sector.
The National Construction Confederation held La Noche CNC, during which it paid tribute to large companies, SMEs and the self-employed for being decisive in transforming and modernising Spain. In this way, for the first time at national level, the leadership, innovation and dynamism of a strategic sector that represents around 10% of GDP and employs more than 1.3 million workers was recognised.
The CNC Night was attended by more than 300 people and brought together the vice-president Yolanda Díaz and the minister Elma Saiz. In addition to the government representatives, the presidents of CEOE and Cepyme also took part, as well as prominent entrepreneurs from the sector.
During the inauguration, the president of CNC, Pedro Fernández Alén, stated that “construction changes everything, which is why it has to raise its sights. The government should see us as the great sector that we are: construction is technology, it is innovation, it is the future. And yes, construction can do anything, but we must all make an effort and build together to achieve a better Spain”.
The Construction Night recognised these categories: Best Initiative for Attracting Women; Digital Transformation; Improving the Image of the sector; International Initiative; Self-Employed Person of the Year; Best Initiative for Attracting Young Talent and Best Technological Initiative with Environmental Benefit; Family Business / Generational Change, and the Special Award for Professional Career was given to Florentino Pérez, Chairman of ACS.
With this tribute, CNC praises the role of a sector that is fundamental for the execution of the NextGenerationEU Funds, of which seven out of every ten euros will be directly related to construction.
In short, these awards consolidate CNC as the business organisation that brings together almost all construction companies, as well as a single and consensual voice before the public authorities and other national and international bodies in defence of a sector whose main levers of competitiveness are digitalisation, sustainability, safety, health and improving the skills of its employees.
