The Forum for Madrid, the public-private collaboration platform of reference between the City Council and Madrid’s civil society, has held a preparatory working day to present and select the projects that will form part of the 2024 action programme. The Forum, presented last December, is articulated as a common place for discussion, analysis and proposal of initiatives, capable of combining the experience of the business world with the vision of a broad representation of civil society to address the challenges and opportunities of the city jointly.

At this morning’s session, which took place at the headquarters of Madrid International Lab, 14 proposals were presented, drawn up by municipal services, as well as technicians from EMT Madrid, Madrid Salud and the Employment Agency. The companies and associations that are members of the platform will be able to prioritise their implementation, which will be co-financed through the contributions made by the entities to the platform and the municipal budget.

The most important proposals to be assessed cover different areas and sectors such as:

Innovation

  • Construction of a therapeutic circuit in the Pradolongo park.
  • Development of a digital twin project for the creation of an intelligent urban space.

Health

  • Development of the project Sed de Piel, for the protection and care of the skin.

Social

  • Creation of an application for homeless people.
  • Training courses and a new mobile office, presented by the Employment Agency.

Sustainability

  •  Presented by EMT Madrid: Implementation of photovoltaic stations in park-and-ride car parks.
  •  Photovoltaic energy production in the plots of the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Incubator of the Barrios Productores programme.
  •  Design of a strategy for irrigation systems for green areas in Madrid.

Recovery of historical and cultural heritage

  • Creation of a programme of cultural activities in the Beti Jai Fronton.
  • Recovery of heritage in the area of the Metropolitan Forest.
  • Development of a project to improve the renovation of the cable car.

Communication campaigns have also been presented, for example, to raise awareness of the activities of the Municipal School of Trades or urban events such as Madrid Gráfica.

In short, a series of initiatives for the benefit of the city to adapt public policies to the challenges facing the capital, while making Madrid a more attractive and competitive city.
