MWCC today took part in the constituent session of the Forum for Madrid, the public-private collaboration platform created at the end of last year by decree of the city councillor and made up of companies and associations, as well as Madrid City Council staff, with the aim of strengthening collaboration and coordination between the City Council and civil society, through the development of initiatives to benefit the city and the adaptation of public policies to the challenges facing the capital. During the constitutive session, the programme with the different actions to be developed throughout 2024 was approved, as a result of the selection and prioritisation of municipal projects by the member companies.

These include the design of a strategy to optimise irrigation systems in the city’s green areas, the installation of photovoltaic equipment in EMT Madrid’s park-and-ride car parks, the Sed de Piel project in collaboration with the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, the production of photovoltaic energy in the plots of the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Incubator of the Producing Neighbourhoods programme, the development of a programme of cultural activities for the dissemination of the Beti Jai Fronton, the recovery of historical heritage in the area of the Metropolitan Forest, the creation of an application for homeless people and the development of a Training and Rooting Programme proposed by the Employment Agency.

Likewise, the composition and rules of operation of the three permanent commissions that make up the forum have been agreed: Projects; International Promotion and Branding, and Communication and Knowledge Generation. The committees will meet at least once every two months to offer continuity to public-private collaboration, so that this platform can anticipate the important transformations that Madrid will undergo in the coming years and be prepared to collaborate in the construction of the best city for the people of Madrid. The forum also reviewed the actions stemming from the previous Business Forum for Madrid.

The platform’s meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor, Inma Sanz; representatives of the different areas of government and delegated areas of the City Council; the honorary vice-presidents of the forum, Ángel Asensio, President of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, and Miguel Garrido, President of the Madrid Business Confederation (CEIM), as well as representatives of the institutions that make it up, including private companies, associations and clusters promoted by the City Council:
