MWCC has participated in the presentation of the Madrid Architecture Week, which has scheduled more than 300 activities with Mexico as the guest country.
On September 30, the big week of Architecture in Madrid will begin with the inauguration of the XIX Architecture Week organized by the Official College of Architects of Madrid and the COAM Architecture Foundation, in collaboration with the Madrid City Council, the Community of Madrid, the embassy of Mexico. This new edition has Mexico as a guest country. For 10 days, Architecture takes center stage in our region with the programming of nearly 300 free activities including exhibitions, events, conferences, visits to buildings, urban itineraries and children’s activities aimed at all audiences. In this edition, three exhibitions organized by the COAM and the COAM Architecture Foundation stand out in the programming. The first of these, and as a prelude to the Architecture Week, the exhibition “Landscape of light”, which celebrates the anniversary of the designation of this enclave in Madrid as World Heritage through a sample of 15 marquees installed in the Paseo del Prado, where 28 representative buildings of the capital are explained and valued, such as the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Palacio de Cristal.
Caixaforum, the Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen museums, the Ritz and Palace hotels or the Madrid City Hall.
The second of the exhibitions, “In common”, organized together with AEDES Berlin, shows eight exemplary projects that illustrate the way of working in the studio of the Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao with large-scale models of concrete, compacted earth, wood or brick.
The third of the exhibitions that can be visited at the COAM from September 30 commemorates the centenary of the birth of the architect Ramón Vázquez Molezún, an opportunity to debate the validity of his architectural and artistic work in an eminently visual exhibition project, where material of various kinds is combined.
This year the normality of previous editions is resumed and 52 buildings open their doors again to make themselves known to the citizens: the Hospital de Jornaleros de Maudes, the Frontón Beti-Jai, the Press Association of Madrid or Palacio de Fernán Núñez , Foundation of the Spanish Railways, among others. The urban itineraries also return, 39 on this occasion, to explore spaces such as the illustrated Madrid: the architecture of the Bourbons, the Mythological Madrid, the Hotels of Madrid or, outside the capital, Alcalá de Henares and Rutas de las Villas.
