MWCC, IESE Business School, Ingenuity Eurofinance sign a collaboration agreement with the Urban Development Area of ​​the Madrid City Council to attract European funds to promote the Bosque Metropolitano project.

In an event entitled “Metropolitan Forest, a sustainable and innovative opportunity”, MWCC, IESE Business School, Ingenuity Eurofinance have exposed the business, social, and environmental opportunities that the Metropolitan Forest project offers.

In turn, the delegate of the Urban Development Area, Mariano Fuentes, indicated “we are facing the largest urban and green regeneration project in Europe, being a true example of private collaboration and a model for monitoring cities such as Rome or Milan”. He went on to say that “the signed agreement is the result of the generosity of MWCC, IESE and Ingenuity Eurofinance.”

MWCC, together with IESE and Ingenuity Eurofinance, which since Madrid was chosen as one of the 100 Climate Neutral Cities in 2030, are organizing different conferences to disseminate this European project.

MWCC is in contact with the Madrid City Council to collaborate in the preparation of the Climate Agreement that must be presented in 2023 before the European Commission.

In addition, MWCC is developing a methodology for the creation of Zero Emissions Innovation Districts that fits perfectly with the mission of the 100 CCNs.

For the president of MWCC, David Garcia Nuñez, “we are facing an iconic, benchmark, sustainable project that transforms the quality of life of future generations. The agreement signed is a true example of collaboration between entities, which add synergies to improve sustainability and air quality in the capital of Spain”.

Bosque Metropolitano, the largest sustainable regeneration project in Europe

It is a green infrastructure that will extend over 75 kilometers in the city of Madrid, which will contribute to the rebalancing of the city, to the reduction of CO2 emissions, to the fight against climate change, to ecological restoration and landscape of degraded areas and to increase the offer of pedestrian and cycling routes, as well as benefiting the health of the population.

It is a forest belt that will encircle the city of Madrid, relying on the green areas classified by urban planning, both executed and pending execution, in order to form a green corridor located within the municipality of Madrid and running more or less close to the edge of the term. municipal and seeking the greatest possible ecological and spatial continuity.

MWCC betting on sustainability and innovation

MWCC, an entity made up of more than 160 public and private entities, leaders in their sectors (technology, finance, construction, insurance, banking, engineering, architecture, universities…), has created together with the Community of Madrid and the Metropoli Foundation , the Innovation Lab linked to the development of Madrid Nuevo Norte.

In addition, MWCC is developing a work methodology for the development of Zero Emissions Innovation Districts, with projects in Villaverde-La Nave, Madbit or the regeneration of Ciudad Universitaria.

Other milestones achieved:

  • MWCC has obtained the “Cluster Management Excellence Label BRONZE” accreditation.
  • MWCC is the only Spanish entity to form part of the European association “New European Bauhaus”.
  • MWCC has participated in the European Mobility Week by presenting three approved and published proposals.
  • MWCC is the only Spanish entity to participate in the Global Infrastructure Hub, a multilateral entity dependent on the G20.
