MWCC present at the Múevete Verde 2024 Awards
MWCC has been present along with the delegate of Urbanism, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabante, and the managing director of Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT Madrid), Alfonso Sanchez, at the ceremony of the Muévete Verde 2024 Awards.
The jury carried out a thorough and rigorous analysis of each of the initiatives presented to identify and select the winners. Companies, institutions, educational centers, associations and citizens have been the participants of these annual awards, designed to value business commitment and citizen initiatives that contribute to improving mobility in the city of Madrid.
In the category of Improving Customer Experience, the award went to the transport company ALSA, for its customer journey methodology (or 'customer corridor', the experience a customer has when interacting with an organization, service, product or brand) for people with disabilities and functional diversity. The aim of this strategy is to make all intercity trips 100% accessible and inclusive for all travelers. This system, already implemented in all interprovincial lines, is fed by the suggestions and recommendations received daily from customers. The award was collected by Francisco Iglesias, CEO of ALSA.
In the Innovation category, the Innovation Center for Logistics and Transport (CITET) won the award for its 'Ale-hoop' project for emergency aerologistics for hospitals and public bodies. Francisco Aranda, vice-president, and Ramón García, general director, were present on behalf of this institution. The medical supply by drones can have a great impact on emergency care, as well as on the survival rate. The analysis carried out by CITET is a starting point for the future of aerial logistics (risks, drawbacks, mitigations, etc.).
In third place, Íñigo Azcona, Sales Director for Spain and Portugal at Irizar e-mobility, received the award in the Decarbonization category for the Basque manufacturer's 100% electric ie tram vehicle. With the launch of the first Bus Rapid line in Madrid, this versatile bus model is at the forefront of current public transport systems for its performance, sustainable technology, speed and avant-garde design.
In the Digitalization category, the School of Civil Engineering of Madrid (UPM) won the award for its project focused on the digital twins Digital Twins for Infrastructures and Cities. The award was collected by the deputy director, Vicente Alcaraz. This project, co-financed by the Digital Europe program of the European Commission, has the support of four European universities, four innovative SMEs and a research center for the search of digital solutions for sustainability and efficiency.
Finally, Daniela Arias, a student at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) with her doctoral thesis Análisis de los patrones espacio - temporales de los servicios de micromovilidad: situando BiciMAD en contexto has been chosen by the jury in the Research category. The work goes beyond usage and user profiles and their visualization, as it also analyzes the impact between the bicimad electric bicycle rental system and other modes of transport. The award-winning researcher was represented by a colleague from her department at UCM.
Muévete Verde assessment criteria
The Muévete Verde Awards take into account six evaluation criteria when selecting the winning projects: the scope and impact of the measure or initiative, its transformative nature, the degree of innovation, the transferability of the initiative to other people or organizations, the degree of implementation and the parallel actions that favor its execution, implementation and replicability.
In the identification, evaluation and selection of the best practices presented in this call for proposals, the experience and collaboration of numerous national, regional, municipal, university and neighborhood organizations, among others, has been taken into account. All of them are actively involved in urban mobility management.
The jury for these awards was made up of representatives from the Madrid Confederation of Businessmen (CEIM), the CONAMA Foundation, IE Business School, IESE Business School, Universidad Pontificia Comillas, the Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility Area of the Madrid City Council, the Directorate General of Transport of the Community of Madrid, the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM) and Cercanías de Madrid, the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, the Madrid Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations (FRAVM), the International Union of Public Transport (UITP), the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, and EMT Madrid. /
