MWCC is present at the 8th edition of the Week of Civil Engineering in Madrid, under the slogan ‘We promote sustainability’, an exhibition space open to the public has been created from 23 to 30 May in the Plaza de Callao.

This biennial event has established itself as an activity of great interest to disseminate the relevant contribution of civil engineering to economic, urban and social development.  Through immersive experiences, virtual reality, simulators and models, the advances and relevance of road engineering to preserve sustainability in the field of infrastructures, mobility, transport, dams, ports, roads, energy, structures and innovative materials are shown.

The programme includes guided tours of key infrastructures, control centres and construction sites. There will also be entertainment activities as well as workshops aimed especially at students and young people.

Admission to all activities is free thanks to the support of 90 companies, institutions, associations and universities that collaborate to make SICMA a unique experience.

We must highlight the enormous value of this discipline in the face of climate and urban challenges, thanks to the contribution of realistic solutions that contribute to development and care for the environment.

During the event, the C Madrid presented the work of Canal de Isabel II and its management of key infrastructures for the population, such as storm tanks, dams or wastewater treatment plants, together with more than 18,000 kilometres of supply network and 16,000 kilometres of sewerage. The public company's facilities include a floating photovoltaic plant in Torrelaguna and a rainfall simulator in Meco, a pioneer in Europe for the study of heavy rainfall. Its Strategic Plan 2025-2030 will have an investment of more than 2,000 million euros, to guarantee the people of Madrid excellence in the management of the water cycle, with the highest standards of safety, health, reuse and innovation.
