MWCC has participated in the 5th Conference “Informative Treatment of Disability in the media”, organized by the A LA PAR Foundation and FAPE.

The event was attended by HM The Queen as well as the main protagonists of the world of sports communication and Paralympic athletes.

During the day, the report “Paralympic sport and the media” was presented and two round tables moderated by Matias Prats and Ruth Betia were held.

In a context of growing complexity, the media play a fundamental role as guarantors of citizens’ right to information. Through the selection and coverage of certain events, they decide what is socially relevant and contribute to the construction and formation of reality.

In Spain there are more than 3.8 million people with disabilities. A very large group for whom media communication is not always accessible, which makes them especially vulnerable and prevents them from exercising their right to be informed freely.
