MWCC has actively participated in the preparation of the draft Madrid Strategic Plan (PEM) and its Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). This event is part of the consultation and open dialogue process on the urban, environmental, and social future of the capital.

The PEM is the instrument that will guide Madrid's urban planning in the coming years, replacing the 1997 General Urban Development Plan and laying the foundations for addressing the city's main current and future challenges, such as access to housing, environmental sustainability, mobility, social cohesion, and the promotion of a dynamic and resilient urban model.

The conference, organized by COAM and Madrid City Council, was structured around a series of high-level technical presentations explaining the content and scope of the Initial Strategic Document (DIE) and the BASE Document—elements that constitute the open draft strategic synthesis— as well as the tools and methodological approaches proposed to address the challenges identified. The event was opened and contextualized by Myriam Peón González, Director General of the New General Plan Office.

MWCC's presence at this event underscores its commitment to participatory strategic planning and to incorporating culture and creativity as cross-cutting themes in major urban transformation processes. The organization highlights the importance of promoting spaces for dialogue where cities, institutions, technical agents, and citizens can contribute to a more inclusive, sustainable, and competitive vision of Madrid on the international stage.

MWCC reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, urban innovation, and citizens' quality of life, as well as to open processes that allow for the construction of a more cohesive, resilient city oriented toward culture as an engine of development.
