MWCC and Caminos Madrid promote dialogue on urban planning with the conference “The Urban Future”
MWCC, in collaboration with the Madrid Association of Civil Engineers (Caminos Madrid) and with institutional support from the Community of Madrid, organized the conference “The Urban Future,” a professional gathering dedicated to discussing the challenges and opportunities of contemporary urban planning in Spain.
The session brought together technical managers, institutional representatives, and opinion leaders from the sector to share strategic perspectives on the transformation of cities. The conference was opened by Francisco Javier Soto, member of the Governing Board of the Madrid Association of Civil Engineers, and the president of MWCC, David García Núñez.
Sara Aranda, Director General of Urban Planning for the Community of Madrid, then presented the LIDER Plan, the new Law for the Promotion and Balanced Development of the Region (new Land Law of the Community of Madrid), highlighting its impact on streamlining urban development, simplifying regulations, creating a more flexible framework to promote housing, infrastructure, and economic activity, and its focus on responding to the current challenges of growth, sustainability, and legal certainty in regional planning.
The conference included a multidisciplinary round table discussion featuring leading professionals in the fields of urban planning and engineering: Enrique Francisco Manzano Martínez (COAM – Official Association of Architects of Madrid), David García Núñez (MWCC), Jaime Aldama Caso (Caminos Madrid), and José Luis Hernández Merchán (COIIM – Official Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid).
“The Urban Future” addresses key issues such as integrated planning for sustainable cities, public-private partnerships for urban development, technological innovation applied to urban spaces, and efficient infrastructure management.
MWCC's participation in this initiative reinforces its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and urban quality of life, continuing its work to promote sectoral dialogue and generate solutions that respond to contemporary challenges in city design and management.
